Designed for a hotel that celebrates the indigenous cultures of Canada, the Du-O light uses modern OLED technology to evoke the traditional whalebone houses of the Pacific Northeast. The design and fabrication method, as well as its name, Du-O, are guided on the principle of two eyed seeing, recognizing the benefits of combining the strengths of Western and indigenous ways. The pendants are arranged in a river-like manner that represents the flow of water and the connection with nature. Each pendant takes on a circular form, a symbol that embodies equality, protection, and a balance with nature.
