The Billboard is an innovation center for Shopify - an online business platform operating company that already has an office in Toronto. Therefore, this new workplace on Queen st needs more functions than just an office would have expected. Like its name, its mission is to connect people living in the city with Shopify, to bring more people to Shopify, and to attract more potential clients to Shopify. At the same time, for Shopify employees from other regions, this is a billboard for the city of Toronto where they can get to know the people and culture of the city more quickly. As a renovation of a historic building, the combination of old and new is a symbol of Shopify's ability to combine online commerce and offline activities in a new format.
