Memorial to Isamu Noguchi

Explore Noguchi’s imaginative and often unrealized proposals with fresh meaning via this immersive experience that reflects his design philosophies and belief in the social significance of sculpture.

Amalgamating several of his designs, we amplified his spatial ideologies through function and scale. The landscape of triangles was inspired by the United Nations Playground and its geometry is utilized for wayfinding. A domed Akari Light, unconstrained by gravity and scale, translates the idea of weightlessness and ephemerality while serving as a permeable gathering space.

This memorial commemorates and honours Noguchi’s design intent and considerations and augments his belief that “everything is sculpture.”
