With Akin Collective in mind, this mixed-use infill project is a space for local artists to develop, create and share their work as a community. Through understanding that art is developed thoughtfully in layers, from practicality to finality, the ground floor of the building holds amenities purposed with raw function. Accessibility is thoughtfully implemented within the ground floor, as well as within the main commercial area on the fourth floor, to accommodate artists’ needs for function and showcase. Through a seamless implementation and shift from functionality, to finality, it is the hope that artists in Toronto will be reinvigorated just as the previous commercial space has been.
