Jacquemus

In designing womenswear, French fashion designer and founder Jacquemus refers to his childhood as a means of preserving the memory of his late mother - whose passing inspired the birth of his brand. The spatial concept addresses the human-scale by referencing characteristics of awe and intimacy known to the mother and child experience.

The ground floor serves as a vantage point for the heart of the workplace below. Here partitions hide, obscure and reveal sightlines below to induce curiosity as one moves through the space. Perforated screens scatter light and orchestrate a brief moment of delight.

The basement volume borrows from a child-like perspective, with double-height spaces that heighten proportion to the body and humble the user in space. In contrast, passage ways and niches wrap around the user and build the feeling of intimacy.
