Dormer House

This laneway house is designed for a 68-year-old writer. The main concerns when designing this house were privacy and light. For privacy, the study, or writing room, is isolated from the rest of the space by a staircase that is encased in wooden components. These components start from the step and carry on into the ceiling. The south-facing dormer that the staircase sits in is mostly glass, allowing light to filter into both the ground and top floors of the house. Large windows in the study also promote good lighting for both reading and writing.
