Built Relations

In “built relations”, the line-types within the collage are translated into a pair of systems represented through differing dowel thicknesses: thick for the straight supportive lines, and thin for the curved lines that highlight important moments. Colour is used deliberately to emphasize the dowel systems while maintaining the raw materiality of wood and clay. Ultimately, the model works to interchange the typical roles of these materials on earth by using wood as the foundation for clay, lifting it above the ground and to the forefront of the composition.
