Studio 283 was designed for the Toronto arts organization, Akin Collective. Located at 283 Harbord Street, Akin provides creative studio space and arts programming for local artists to work on creative projects. Inspired by the brand’s importance of community, Studio 283 has flexible work spaces that promote connectivity. This is possible through interior elements such as laser cut screens, windows, garage doors, open shelving, and moving panels in place of walls. These alternatives were chosen for their impermanence and ability to separate spaces without blocking them off. A transformable studio space allows the users to have more face-to-face connection and be 'akin' to one another; supporting and inspiring one another.
