This parti model of The Villa Gallery House by Makoto Yamaguchi is cast in plaster to highlight the roof, interior volumes and foundation as its 3 primary elements. The material is used to reflect the villa's weight within the remote typography of Karuizawa, and its presence as a sculptural piece. The resulting void represents the main open space within the design, as well as the “public” footprint reserved for art exhibition. The cast elements, primarily the three interior pieces, highlight the few private moments found within. Each component comes together to recreate the essence of the space - an object of art in itself.
