Coral Stone Light

The Coral Stone Light aims to reconnect interior workspaces to nature through biophilic design. Using an indexical casting process, the bioplastic pieces achieve their form directly from an object in nature: a rock. Due to remote learning, this project was developed in its entirety in the Cayman Islands. The project name references the marine life of the island, from which a connection was made upon seeing the coral-like patterns of the rock. From there, the textures became the focus, using light as an enhancement to create a modular wall light installation that showcases the nature we do not often get to see lying below the surface.
