Education Rediscovered

‘Education Rediscovered’ is a proposed interior installation designed with the intention to reveal the shortcomings of the Ontario Primary Curriculum and expose the need to decolonize the education system. The project site is adjacent to the OISE Library: Canada’s largest academic education library. The choice in location of this installation, along with its intent, is used as an ironic tool. The design is intended to mimic a ‘cave-like’ experience, to provide the user with a feeling of discovery as the lack of African and black history is—figuratively and literally— ‘buried’ in the system and must therefore be rediscovered.
