Inspired by the captivating essence of a lava lamp, the proposed Serpentine Pavilion in Hyde Park is designed as a public spatial installation. Enclosed on 2 sides with glass supporting the roof, glowing orbs hang on piano stems and move alongside natural gusts of wind. They are vertically aligned with the glowing lower orbs monotonous with the floor plate to create a relationship evoking tension. This installation has maximum exposure; viewed from afar or up close by gallery users, park dwellers and onlookers from the main street during the light daytime and dark evenings.
